dr. yemi abisuga

Dr Abisuga Oluwayemisi received degrees, diplomas and certificates in many areas of studies of marketing, human resources management, business administration, fashion design, textile production and bead production. She completed her doctoral degree at the Tshwane University of Technology, Business School. For the past twenty-five years, she has worked with her multi-talent, as a lecturer and researcher in reputable international institutions/organisations.  

 

She has published in several journals and books. Her research interest has been on Arts, Cultural and Creative industries, cultural policy, indigenous knowledge, SMEs. Among other activities, she is involved in many community development projects in some African countries, on the training and empowerment of rural youths and women on the production of handicraft and cultural products.

 

Presently, she is working in collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering on a research project funded by the South Africa National Research Fund (NRF) to create appropriate technology and equipment for craft producers (i.e. jewelry and textile production), in order to increase productivity, job creations, and develop the African crafts and cultural products. Her projects provide support to government and international partners by ensuring that African indigenous resources (such as gold, silver, diamond, cotton, timber, copper etc.) are converted into innovative products to empower the less privileged to have equal rights to own business, good live, job securities, life skills/training, and an enabling environment for entrepreneurship.
